Abstract

Words are not random usage patterns. It is a living soul that contains traces of the societies they belong to. Proverbs are one of the most important elementsn that constitute the basic vocabulary of a language.
Proverbs have been used as guidance for centuries thanks to their ability to convey deep meanings in a concise and concise manner. In this respect, proverbs, which are closely related to education, have
undertaken the aim of guiding both the society and the individual to the truth. The situations expressed in proverbs are preventive and guiding training methods
in the form of a kind of transfer of experience. In this sense, they are important elements that reveal the Turkish education philosophy. In this study, we aimed to reveal education-related proverbs and their word
frequency in terms of Turkish vocabulary. In this way, we tried to draw attention to the importance of vocabulary, especially proverbs, in the formation of our
national education system, the preservation of cultural codes and their expression. In the 167 educationrelated proverbs we examined, educated people are
praised, some characteristics are innate, early
education will be more effective, and the importance of family and environment in creating a role model is
emphasized; In the frequency analysis of the words that make up the proverbs, it was seen that 399 words were repeated 836 times in total, and it was determined that the word "education" was in a semantic relationship with the words "way, upbringing, ignorant, scholar , know-, tell-, be-".
